Lincoln Co. carnival coming in May

Coming this May is the Lincoln County Carnival, presented by the Bank of Brookhaven, which will offer rides, games, live entertainment and food to fit everyone’s tastes during its third year at the Lincoln Civic Center.

This year, the Lincoln County Carnival will offer additional entertainment, special features and new corresponding events that will insure a fun-filled weekend for the entire family. Nightly live entertainment and the relocation of the popular Lincoln County Garden Extravaganza are among the added features.

The Carnival, scheduled for May 9-12th, promises a long weekend of amusements for families throughout the region. Starting on Wednesday May 9th, the Carnival will dedicate its opening as “Youth Night” sponsored by Brookhaven Broadcasting – encouraging youth groups (religious and civic) from across the area to attend and take advantage of discounted arm bands.  Other features include a Vocal Talent Night on Thursday evening sponsored by Super Talk 102.1. Then, the popular band “Parrish County” visiting from Nashville will deliver a concert on Friday night sponsored by Legacy Toyota and the regional favorite “The Colonels” will perform Saturday evening sponsored by Lincoln County Farm Bureau. Live performances will continue on Saturday at noon for area K-8th grade students, who will be invited to take the stage for a Youth Talent Show where every child will be a winner!. Throughout the weekend, families will enjoy 19 rides, 20 different games and eight main food vendors as well as a Local Food Alley. Other sponsors: Brookhaven Printing, Lincoln Lumber Company and Brookhaven Monument.  Sponsorships for the Carnival are still available

“We want people to know that this Carnival offers top rate rides, food and entertainment in a secure, safe environment. The rides and games at this event are the same impressive pieces of equipment available at any State Fair,” said Quinn Jordan, director of Lincoln Civic Center.  “We want families from all over the region to know that they would not be wasting a drive to Brookhaven to enjoy this family-oriented activity.”

In conjunction with the Carnival this year, the Lincoln County Master Gardeners will move their annual Garden Extravaganza from downtown to the Carnival site. Their showcasing and selling of garden plants, decor and other offerings will begin Friday night and continue through Saturday. There will also be an Animal Viewing Zoo available during each day of the Carnival. These events will be held under cover inside the Civic Center and within the stall barn.

More than 10,000+ people attended the four-day Carnival last year, with more crowds expected as awareness of the event continues to grow. Parking for the event is $2 per vehicle, which benefits a local nonprofit. The unlimited-ride armbands will range from $15-$25 per individual depending on which night you attend the event. Tickets can also be purchased for $1 each; however, some rides require more than one ticket. Groups can benefit from discounted armbands for Wednesday night’s Youth Night and for more information visit www.lincolnciviccenter.com or contact Quinn Jordan @ 601-823-9064
