ISAAC UPDATE: Numerous power outages, tree damage throughout Copiah County this morning

Isaac 2012 is hanging on tenaciously and still jostling the Copiah County area with high wind gusts and very heavy rainfall this Thursday morning, August 30.
As of 11 p.m. yesterday, Randle Drane, Copiah County Emergency Management Agency director, had gotten reports of 37 trees falling on roadways, three of which had cut power lines.  Two other power lines were downed and a tree had fallen on a home in Wesson.
Debris from the effects of the gusty winds of Isaac has littered roads.  Power is out to at least 4700 homes and businesses, including about half of the city of Hazlehrust, Drane said this morning.
Conditions will begin to improve late this afternoon as Isaac slowly drifts towards the northwest.  Continue to monitor conditions as Copiah County is under a tornado watch until later this morning, as well as a flood warning.
Residents are reminded to stay off of streets, roads and highways so utility crews, emergency personnel and others responding to dangerous situations can work without interference.
