A retirement celebration was held on Friday, December 28 at the Copiah County Courthouse in Hazlehurst in honor of two election commissioners, Honorable Maudell Weeks. (Dist. 2) and Kitty Scarbrough (Dist. 5)
The event was attended by a cadre of county officials, family, friends, and employees who have worked with the ladies for years. Weeks retired after 28 years, while Scarbrough served eight.

Two new election commissioners were elected on November 6: Frances B. Taylor in Dist. 2 and Beverly Hood in Dist. 5.
Taylor and Hood were sworn in on Thursday, January 3.
