Wesson’s American Legion Auxiliary installs officers

The American Legion Auxiliary of Wesson’s Drane Prine Post held its installation of officers July 16 at the post. Auxiliary members meet each third Tuesday of the month with the Legionnaires for a covered dish meal followed by a business meeting. The July meeting is traditionally the time for the installation of officers for the new year.

Mrs. Nancy Sanders, State Secretary of the American Legion Auxiliary, installed new officers. She is President of Unit 112 in Jackson and was accompanied by her husband, Larry Sanders.
Serving Drane Prine for the year 2013-2014 are: Janet Currie and Carolyn Frazier, sergeants-at-arms; Mary Boyte, chaplain and coupons chairman; Mary Hopson, calling chairman; Shirley Hennington, correspondence and poppy chairman; Anna Hartgraves, historian; Frances Mullins, secretary and treasurer; Annie Wingo, vice-president and membership; and Sharon Langley, unit president. State Secretary Sanders recognized each officer and reminded them of their responsibilities while holding the different offices.

Another matter of business was to report news from the state convention held in Vicksburg in July. Sharon Langley reported the great pleasure she received in reading at convention a resolution to nominate a unit member, Kathy Dungan, to be considered as a candidate for national president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Dungan currently serves at the national level as Chairman of Constitution and By-Laws. At the state convention, Dungan received a rousing ovation for the resolution and it passed unanimously. She has served as an officer in many local, state and national positions.
