Cherokee Rose Chapter MSSDAR met Wednesday, October 16 at Covington Memorial Library in Hazlehurst.

Visiting guest and French Legion of Honor Medal recipient Mal Jones led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and shared his experiences in the Navy, serving on a mine-sweeper. Other guests included Kellie Bullock, Zandria Bullock, Peggy Phillips, Jean Conner, Rita Stuart, and Vicki Ramsey.

The program was introduced by Vice-Regent Mary Ann Yates and presented by Mary Kitchens of Crystal Springs, Director of Mississippi’s Toughest Kids. She shared the vision of MTK to build, in Copiah County, a totally accessible camp facility for individuals with disabilities.  Funds and prayers are needed to make this vision a reality, and Mrs. Kitchens and others are working and supporting this plan.

Cherokee Rose is sending a contribution to MTK in appreciation for Mrs. Kitchen’s presentation and in support of this project.
