Colonels reach Christmas tourney finals

By Corey McKinney
The Copiah Colonels were riding an impressive six game winning streak, as they came into the Simpson Christmas Tourney. They drew Columbia for their first game, a team they just beat only six days ago. The Cougars, however, remembered the loss, and came out with revenge set in their eyes.
The Cougars held their own in the first quarter, ending it with a 15-15 tie. Both teams kept scraping for points in the low scoring second quarter, but it was Copiah who took a 26-22 lead at halftime.
The Colonels then turned it up and outscored Columbia 20-12, giving Copiah a 46-34 lead. The colonels closed the game out well, finishing the game and winning by the score of 69-48.
The Colonels would advance to the Semi-Finals to play the winner of Hillcrest and Leake.
