Frank Jones retains Ward 1 seat after special election

Voters in Ward 1 in Hazlehurst went to the polls for a special Democratic primary election yesterday.  After the final tally was in, incumbent alderman Frank Jones retained his seat with a 131-106 unofficial victory over challenger Jesse Larry.
The election is subject to certification by the Hazlehurst Democratic Executive Committee, who has ten days to take the action.  Once certified, Jones has no challenger for a general election.  He will automatically retain his seat and have a term of 3+ years remaining.
