Colonels get back on track with three big wins

The Copiah Academy Colonels are now on a hot streak after winning four run-shortened games last week. The Colonels had suffered their first three losses of 2014 after being swept by Columbia Academy prior to spring break.Copiah defeated Jackson Victors 13-0 last Monday, and picked up three conference wins over Lamar School to close the week out.

Freshman Colton Meadows led the Colonels during with 2 hits and 3 RBIs. The team members combined for 8 hits and 9 RBIs. Four pitchers for Copiah–Austin Ragland, Cory Eckhoff, Weston Acey and Zane Frazier–combined to allow just 2 hits, while striking out 8 batters.
COLONELS SWEEP LAMAR SCHOOL
Copiah faced the Lamar Raiders in Gallman last Tuesday, whipping the visitors 15-1. Ragland, Frazier, and Will Lingle all had 2 hits. Zane Fraizer pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run. Weston Acey came in to close the game, giving Frazier the win.
Copiah made the return trip to Lamar on Thursday to complete the series with a double header. The Colonels won the first game of the 11-1 and took the second game 14-4. Weston Acey pitched all six innings in the first game, striking out 8 and allowing just 3 hits. Ragland and Eckhoff pitched the second game, scattering 9 hits and striking out 4.
Copiah is now 9-3 and will play a three game series against Oak Forest. The Colonels and Yellow Jackets met up Tuesday in Amite. Both teams will be in Gallman on Thursday for a double-header.
