Rita Robbins receives Key from Lions International

President of the Hazlehurst Lions Club, Rita Barlow-Robbins received a Senior Builder Key from Lions Club International on June 19. The award was presented by the incoming District Governor, James Wilkerson of Madison. The award is in honor of obtaining 15 new members to the Lions organization. In order to be able to help those less fortunate and fulfill the challenge set forth to Lions in 1925 by Helen Keller, “To Be Knights of the Blind”; members are needed. We need younger members with new ideas.
The Hazlehurst Lions meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at Kannu’s at 6:30 p.m. Anyone is invited to come visit our club and learn how to help.
Rita has been a member of the club for 15 years, along with her father, Harold Barlow and son, Craig Sawyers and is a Past District Governor, Past Council Chairperson, Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, has received numerous International President’s awards, and is incoming President of the Lions Sight Foundation. She is the daughter of Harold and Frances Barlow of Hazlehurst and is married to Lion B.T. Robbins.
For more information on how you can become a member, please visit the club during a meeting time or contact any member of the club.
