Mid-South District well represented at State Convention

The Mid-South District (Hazlehurst and Crystal Springs) of the South Central Diocese Sunday School and HYM of the Church of Christ Holiness USA (COCHUSA) was represented well at the South Central Diocese State Convention held June 20-22 in Jackson.

The Mid-South District Bible Bowl Team brought home the first place trophy. Shelby Greer of the Greater Damascus COCHUSA won first place in the Bishop Charles Price Jones Music Contest – Vocal, Shantasia Thomas of Greater Damascus won first place in the Bishop Charles Price Jones Music Contest – Instrumental, and Caitlyn Beasley of Greater Damascus won first place in the M.R. Conic Oratorical Contest. Beasley will represent the South Central Diocese on the national level as Youth of the Year. The Bible Bowl Team and all contestants will advance to compete on the national level July 24-29 in Atlanta, GA.

The following Mid-South District high school seniors received the South Central Diocese Leadership Awards ranging from $500-$1,000.

Kembe’Keys, Greater Damascus, $1,000; Shantasia Thomas, Greater Damascus, $1,000; Caitlyn Beasley, Greater Damascus, $1,000; Timothy Neyland, Temple, $1,000; Charitei Anderson, Temple, $750; Timothy Webster, St. Peter, $750; D’Audrek West, Temple, $750; Alexis Joiner, St. Peter, $750; and Shantara Gibbs, Greater Damascus, $500.

Bro. Randy Reynolds, Mid-South District President and member of St. Peter, was recognized for his service and leadership to the district. Reynolds was also congratulated for his appointment as South Central Diocese Sunday School and HYM Vice President. Minister Bertram Goodloe, Greater Damascus, was recognized for his leadership and service over the last three years as president of the South Central Diocese Sunday School and HYM as he vacates this position. Goodloe opted not to seek re-election for an additional term as president.
