Lady Colonels in south state fastpitch tourney this weekend

Copiah Academy will play at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the first round of the MAIS South State AAA fastpitch tournament hosted by Oak Forest Academy in Amite, LA.  The Lady Colonels (32-2) will face East Rankin Academy in the first round at Live Oak Park, according to the Oak Forest Twitter account (@OFAAthletics.
A win puts Copiah in the noon Saturday game against either Jackson Prep or Presbyterian Christian.  A loss will send the Lady Colonels to the losers’ bracket to play at 1:30 on Saturday.
The tournament concludes Monday.  The top four teams will advance to the state tournament next weekend.
Parklane earned the top spot in the south with an 11-1 conference record.  Copiah finished 10-2 in conference play.
