The Hazlehurst Board of Aldermen appointed a new superintendent of the Water and Sewer Department during last Tuesday’s regular monthly board meeting.
Lloyd Hilliard, Water Department Superintendent, submitted his retirement letter on Oct. 3, amid allegations that he sexually harassed a city worker over the past two years. Ward 2 Alderman Ron Sims read Hilliard’s letter into the city record. Hilliard noted that he began his career with the city in 1986, earning the superintendent’s job in 2003.
