Hazlehurst City School District had its first annual Academic Awards Banquet on May 7.
Students from Hazlehurst elementary, middle, and high schools were awarded trophies for their Proficient and Advanced performance on the 2013-2014 State Tests.

In addition, some students received awards for making the Superintendent’s and Principal’s Lists for multiple nine weeks.  The district was able to award over 200 trophies, thanks to the generous sponsorships from Sanderson Farms and Craddock Oil Companies.

Mayor Henry Banks, Board President Dr. Troy Stewart, Former Conservator Henry Dorsey, and Senator Albert Butler were in attendance.

The district also honored the accomplishments of all students that have had exceptional academic performance. The district’s mission is to provide opportunities for students to achieve their personal best, become responsible and productive citizens, and embrace lifelong learning in a safe, orderly, and positive environment. We believe all children can learn and excel with developmentally appropriate materials, practices, and strategies.
