JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is offering dove hunting opportunity on wildlife management areas (WMAs) across the state. There are 15 WMAs with designated, prepared dove fields. These areas include Black Prairie, Canal Section, Charles Ray Nix, Copiah County, Divide Section, Hell Creek, Howard Miller, Indianola, Leroy Percy, Mahannah, Muscadine Farms, Okatibbee, O’Keefe, Tuscumbia, and Yockanookany.
Wildlife Management Area dove fields will open on the following dates and times:
Copiah County will be available Saturday, September 5 at noon.
Also, there will be special youth dove hunts held on Black Prairie and Mahannah WMAs. The Black Prairie youth dove hunt will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015, and the Mahannah youth hunt will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Registration is closed for these hunts. Black Prairie will open to the public on Wednesday, September 9 and Mahannah will open Sunday, September 13.
