Rep. Holloway re-elected to House Rules Committee

Jackson, MS—Representative Gregory Holloway (D-Hazlehurst) was recently re-elected to the powerful House of Representatives Rules Committee.

The Rules Committee is composed of 11 members, which include the Speaker, the Speaker Pro Tempore, one at-large appointment by the Speaker and eight members elected from the four Congressional districts. House members from the respective districts elect two members to the committee.

The Committee adopts rules and regulations which will govern the procedures and flow of the House, while also handling all resolutions commending, remembering and congratulating individuals and institutions on various accomplishments and successes. Furthermore, the Rules Committee is very active in handling bills regarding repealers and dealing with the Legislative Calendar and its makeup regarding the course of Legislation on the House floor.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the powerful Rules Committee from the Second Congressional District,” said Rep. Holloway. “I thank my colleagues for their vote of confidence on my re-election to the committee. I plan to work as hard as I can to make them and the State of Mississippi proud.”
