Seventh annual Senior Day coming up May 25 at Saferoom

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS – Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones (left) goes over final plans for the seventh annual Senior Citizens Day with members of the Copiah County Triad committee. The purpose of Triad is to promote older adult safety and to reduce the fear of crime that older adults often experience.

The seventh annual Senior Citizens Day, sponsored by Sheriff Harold Jones and the Copiah County TRIAD, will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Joe L. Johnson Saferoom, Epps Lane, Gallman off I-55 exit 65.
All senior citizens age 55 and over are invited to come and enjoy free health screenings, door prizes, and lunch, along with information on safety and health.  Mostly, the Triad is a great opportunity to visit with your neighbors and get to know law enforcement officers from around the communities of Copiah County.
The guest speaker again this year is Copiah County’s own Maggie Wade, a news anchor at WLBT TV3 in Jackson. Maggie is a native of Crystal Springs. She attended Hinds County Public Schools and is a graduate of Utica High School. And, Maggie is a favorite among senior adults in Copiah County.
An Emmy-nominated News Anchor, Maggie attended Jackson State University, becoming the 89th member of her family to attend JSU. She transferred her sophomore year to Mississippi College to pursue a career in Corporate Law. But it was at MC she discovered her ability in radio.
Maggie was hired at WLBT her senior year. Since that time she has worked as weekend weather anchor, news reporter, coordinator and producer of children’s programming, and now serves as 4, 4:30, 5, and 10 p.m. news co-anchor and covers stories on education, children’s issues and anything else that might pop up.
For more information about the event, please call the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office at  601-894-3011.
