It’s beginning to look a lot like …
Billy Miller, an employee of the City of Hazlehurst Street Department, installs Christmas lights on the reindeer and Santa’s sleigh display on the island in downtown on Monday. Miller hangs garland on a light post on Gallatin Street with the help of fellow worker Melvin Williams and a passer-by, on a recent sunny day. Six city workers–Miller, Williams, Darren Virgil, Dewayne Jolly, Willie Jones and Jarquavis Barnes–were hanging lights and decorations on the island on Monday, fighting the windy and threatening conditions most of the day. The crew was getting downtown ready for the Hazlehurst Christmas Parade, which will be held Sunday, December 10 at 3 p.m. Applications for the parade can be picked up at the Chamber office inside the Hazlehurst Depot on Ragsdale Avenue. The parade’s theme is “Christmas in Candyland”. Entries must be decorated with Christmas colors and are preferred to be decorated according to the theme. Any music played must be Christmas music. Entries must be easily identified with signs.
