At 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, the city will celebrate the dedication and unveiling of the Mississippi Musicians Walk of Fame in front of the music museum on Ragsdale Avenue at the Depot. Several elected officials and out of town visitors will be here for the ceremony. Weather permitting, a directions sign and 40 musicians’ markers will be shown for the first time. Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame Director Peggy Brown will present the Walk of Fame to the city. Short comments will then be made by civic leaders. Ora Reed, internationally known vocalist, will perform. The Mississippi Musicians Walk of Fame is the only one of its kind in Mississippi. This gives Hazlehurst another tourist attraction related to music. Hazlehurst is quickly becoming known as Mississippi’s little music city. Dr. Jim Brewer serves as the director of the museum.
