Bob Gant and his famous dogs portrayed in cemetery tour
By Tricia Nelson Robert Lee “Bob” Gant and his bloodhounds were well-known across the United States for tracking criminals. Gant was one of several children born to William Washington Gant, a Confederate veteran buried in the city cemetery. He began working with his beloved dogs in the early 1900s and by the 1920s he was very well-known, for many articles were written about his adventures. Gant will appear in character during the upcoming cemetery tour, Saturday, October 26 at the Crystal Springs Cemetery. His marker is very fitting with one simple line, “A Dog. Man’s best friend”.
