Halloween Decorations –Hal and Sue Warren, 309 West Georgetown Street have a large seasonal Halloween display for everyone to enjoy. By Tricia Nelson Fall has finally arrived and there are plenty of local activities scheduled. Although the Chamber is not having Trunk-or-Treat this year, there are still several opportunities to celebrate the season. On Saturday, October 26, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., the Center for the Prevention of Violence and the police department are hosting “It’s Fall Y’all” downtown at the packing shed. Hot dogs, drinks, and games will be available. This event is being held to bring awareness to domestic violence. Later that evening, the Haunted Haul Run/Walk and Cemetery Tour will take place at the Crystal Springs Cemetery. The run/walk will start at 6:00 p.m. and cemetery tours will begin at 7:00 p.m. There are 125 runners signed up for the race. Parking will be at the First Baptist Church. This is a fundraiser for the Copiah Academy Marching Band. Band students will be performing at various locations along the route that evening. After the run, be sure to visit the local celebrities in the cemetery during the free cemetery tours which will run continuously until 9 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, October 27, New Zion Baptist Church will have Trunk or Treat with food, fun, and games 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Costumes are welcome. Several other churches are hosting events as well. The city will celebrate Halloween with trick-or-treating on Thursday, October 31. Many children will be out participating in these events. Kindergarten through third grade will be dressed in costumes and visit local businesses for a fun morning of trick-or-treating. This annual Halloween tradition will begin at 10:00 a.m. That evening trick-or-treaters will hit the streets at dusk. Drivers are asked to remember to be cautious and aware of the safety of everyone.
