It’s hard to overcome turnovers against a good football team. Crystal Springs re-lived that tried and true saying at Bassfield last Friday night as they were knocked out of the playoffs 40 – 0 by a very good Jefferson Davis County (JDC) football team. JDC scored halfway through the first quarter on a five-yard run. The Tigers might have evened the score, but a Jefferson Davis County interception ended up on the Tiger two yard line. Moments later the score was 14 – 0. Two more scores before the half made it 27 – 0, and two more in the third quarter ended the scoring at 40 – 0. “We just didn’t come out and play as a complete team,” said Head Coach Tim McNair. “We didn’t block and tackle well. “We had a couple of good drives. They were just a step faster than we were, especially in the line. “We will take this week off and come back after Thanksgiving and start getting ready for next season. We’ve got some more steps to take. We’ve got to learn how to win the big game and then go on and learn how to win the championship.” McNair continues to appreciate the fan support his players have received throughout the season and hopes for more of the same next year.
