County officials to be sworn in Dec. 27 at 10 a.m.

County officials announced at their meeting Dec. 10 that swearing-in of Copiah County officials will take place in the Circuit Courtroom in the Courthouse in Hazlehurst Friday, December 27 at 10 a.m. Jessie Terrell of the Utica area asked for county approval for his working with the SNAP program for assisting the elderly. He also sought drainage work at his church at 1061 Utica Institute Road in Copiah County. Jerrell Delaney, the county’s insurance advisor, reported on property and casualty losses by the county during the past five months and workers compensation losses during the year. Joe Brown reported that 48 males and 7 females are incarcerated in the Copiah Detention Center and made a report of meal count at the center a part of the record. Securing of a quotation is being sought on chain link fencing and gate work at the Copiah County Wastewater Plant at the Gallman Industrial Park. Officials adjourned for December after allowing claims totaling $2,636,285 including a number of onetime appropriations to meet January 6, 2020 at 9 a.m.
