The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast was held at the New Zion United Methodist Church January 20. From left at the head table are Darren Powell, Chairman of the King Celebration who welcomed those attending; Arthur Lee Evans, Jr., Executive Director of the Copiah County Economic Development District who was speaker for the event; Arthur Lee Evans, Sr.; Rev. Willie Jones who led the prayer; Ms. Irene Jones; Rev. Victor Willis who read the scripture and Deacon Ronnie Funchess. Essay winners were recognized by Mrs. Ruby Lovett. The parade that had been scheduled for Saturday, January 18 was weathered out.
