Pickup of recyclables is back on schedule

The City of Crystal Springs, after a brief hiatus, is back in the business of picking up items for recycling. According to Mayor Sally Garland, city crews are using a trailer to pick up recycle bins around town on Wednesdays. She said the route is not exact at this point and changes are being made to make the process more efficient. Crystal Springs had a recycling program as part of its regular trash pickup contract until the first of the year, but the recycling part of the contract was not renewed for the next term because of the cost involved. Now, a plan is in place for city crews to pick up those items and continue the effort to be environmentally friendly by keeping as much trash as possible out of landfills. Garland encourages everyone to fill their recycle bins and put at the curb on Wednesdays for pickup.
