Charles Ferrell McAlpin

Charles Ferrell McAlpin, 94, passed away Jan. 19, 2025. A private family service will be held Jan. 22, followed by burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Charles was born on Dec. 25, 1930, to Elmer and Essie McAlpin. He married his wife of almost 70 years, Geraldine Hurst McAlpin, in 1955. While he did serve in the Army, he was also a firefighter for many years. He was stationed at No. 10 Fire Station, No. 8 Fire Station, and No. 22 Fire Station in Jackson. Charles also enjoyed gardening and hunting, especially bird hunting and squirrel hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Essie McAlpin; and his brothers, John Billy McAlpin and James Earl McAlpin.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine “Jeri” Hurst McAlpin; daughters, Mala (Joe Bob) Harris and Michele (Gary) Smith; grandchildren, Kacey (Matt) Ginn, Jamie (Justin) Dean, Trey (Santana) Harris, Kyle (Misty) Smith, and Matt (Jessica) Smith; great-grandchildren, Myers, Harris, and Eleanor Ginn, Cooper and Foster Dean, Mason Mansoor, Addison Temple, and Grayson Smith; and brother, Mitchell Clyde (Gail) McAlpin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Tennessee.
