Margie Faye Collins White passed away peacefully on May 24. She will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
Margie was born on Jan. 4, 1935, in Winnsboro, La, to Lewis Elbert Collins and Mary Ivan Tillman Collins. The family relocated to Hazlehurst, where Margie lovingly cared for her grandmother, Anna Tillman. Later, the family moved to the Sharp Place Farms, where they worked as sharecroppers on the Pearl Brown place.
On April 30, 1949, Margie married Wilbur Preston White. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Together, they raised five children: Elbert, Peggy, Randy, Kathy, and Karen.
Margie was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she especially loved her Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. She faithfully attended church until she became bedridden and could no longer attend. She deeply missed being at church and among her church family.
Margie was a talented seamstress who was taught by her mother at an early age. She lovingly made clothes for her children and became an avid quilter through the years. Her beautiful quilts adorn the homes of many family members and will remain treasured keepsakes for generations to come. Margie and Wilbur were also gifted woodworking crafters for many years, sharing their creativity and craftsmanship with others. She also enjoyed working alongside her daughter, Peggy, in her ceramic shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Elbert Collins and Mary Ivan Tillman Collins; her beloved husband, Wilbur Preston White; her grandson, MacKenzie White; her granddaughter, Rebecca Tagert; her daughter, Kathy Lack Tagert; her son-in-law, Ricky Lack; and her daughter-in-law, Debby White.
She is survived by her children, Elbert White, Peggy (Eddie) Taylor, Randy (Mytra) White, and Karen (Jerry) Rhodes; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, along with many other loving family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
Margie will always be cherished by her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, faith, and dedication that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arden Hospice Home Health and Dr. Preston McDonnell for their care.
