Lynn Beall
Lynn Izard Beall, 89, passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2025, at Copiah Medical Center in Hazlehurst. Born on Oct. 25, 1935, in Hazlehurst to Otto and Mary Nell Izard Beall, Lynn spent the majority of his life in the town he called home.
A proud graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and Mississippi College, where he completed his master’s degree, Lynn dedicated his life to education. He served as an elementary school administrator at both Mendenhall and Hazlehurst schools, where his leadership and compassion impacted students, parents, and teachers alike. After retiring, Lynn continued to share his passion for teaching at Union Academy, touching the lives of even more young learners.
Lynn was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Hazlehurst, where his faith was a guiding light throughout his life. Although he could no longer attend services in person, he faithfully listened to the sermons every Sunday.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Mangold Beall; his daughter, Betty Hall; and his sister, Willie Dell Richardson.
Lynn is survived by his son, Michael Lynn Beall, of Gulfport, who was the joy of his life, and his sister, Glenda Sutherland of Madison. He also leaves behind his cherished in-laws, Billy Mangold, Dorothy Jones, Kathleen Floyd, and their spouses; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lynn will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to education, and love for his family. His gentle spirit and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private graveside service was held on Jan.19.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice or to First Baptist Church, Hazlehurst.
