Dorothy Daugherty
Beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Dorothy “Dot” Daugherty passed away at her Crystal Springs home on Jan. 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Dot, called “MawMaw” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a member of Gallman Baptist Church and a longtime volunteer for the food pantry and other local organizations. She loved flowers, her friends, her cat Callie, and, most of all, her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Dot was preceded in death by her brother, Dillard McManus, and sister, Merle Teasley.
She is survived by her sisters, Estelle Nations and Louise Knight; daughters, Carolyn Bennett (Steve) and Gay Sykes; sons, Mark Sykes (Lynn) and Ricky Sykes; grandchildren, Tina Bennett Hatch (Royal), Melody Bennett Stubbs (Christian), Jennifer Sykes, and Scott Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Carson Stubbs.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24, at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to churches, the Copiah Animal Shelter and other shelters, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
