Thomas Glenn Shoemake Sr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Glenn Shoemake Sr., of Terry, who was born on Oct. 31, 1934, in Perry County, and passed away on Aug. 11, 2025.

Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dubois Russell Shoemake; his parents, Robert Wesley and Annie Elizabeth Shoemake; his sisters, Valda Ray Brown and Frankie White; and his twin sister, Bobbie Jean, who passed shortly after birth.

He is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Thomas Glen Shoemake Jr. and Keith Russell Shoemake; his grandson, Philipp Shoemake, and his wife, Heidi; his granddaughter, Melia Boykin, and her husband, Tommy; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin Lee and Aisley Spell. He is also survived by his sisters, Elaine Mills and Ruth Bradley; his sister-in-law, Ava Spell, and her husband, Charles; along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

In his later years, Thomas found great joy in collecting and restoring antique cars and riding around his property on his side-by-side. He also worked at the Mississippi Job Corps Center, where he deeply valued his relationships with both staff and students.

A man of unwavering faith and devotion to God, Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and spiritual strength that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Springs of Praise in Crystal Springs.  The service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Springs of Praise, with burial at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs is handling arrangements.
