Sidney Lee Moreland

Sidney (C.L.) Lee Moreland was born in 1938 to Rosie Gary Copeland and J.L. Moreland in Copiah County. Our beloved was called to his heavenly home on July 30, 2025. Funeral services were held at Gallatin United Methodist Church on Aug. 9. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Hazlehurst Funeral Home.

Sidney attended Gallatin Elementary School and Parrish High School. C.L. played the guitar for the majority of his life and was a member of the EverReady Gospel Singers and Gallatin U.M. Choir.

In 1960, Sidney married the love of his life, Jessie L. (Williams) Moreland. From this union, came three children, Valerie (Kenny) Adams, John (April) Moreland, and Cheryl D. Moreland. In addition to three magnificent children, he has two grandchildren, Kenny (Karonica) Adams Jr. and Kendajah C. Adams; and two great-granddaughters, Kelsi K. Adams and Kinsley Adams.

Sidney was self-employed in the timber industry since 1977. He has been a member of Gallatin United Methodist Church since he was teenager.

C.L. is survived by his wonderful siblings, Louise (Charles) Magee, Herbert (Cynthia) Copeland, Katherine (Walter) Smith, Jesse Larry Copeland, Helen Byther, Emma Copeland-Strahan, and Marcene Williams.

He was preceded in death by several siblings, Albert (Louis) Clark, Carolyn (Roger) Tate, Abraham Copeland, Harvey (Ruby) Copeland, John Copeland, Burnell (Mary Maude) Copeland, and Charlie Frank Copeland.

Mr. Moreland was a lifelong Masonic member.

Finally, Sidney leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
