Ronald Allen Wood Sr.

Ronald Allen Wood Sr., 79, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Nov. 20, 2025. Born on Nov. 6, 1946, Ronnie spent his life rooted in the Hazlehurst community that he loved. He graduated from Hazlehurst High School, attended Mississippi State University, served in the U.S. Navy, and later retired from the United States Postal Service.

Ronnie was a man of simple passions and deep devotion. He enjoyed many days spent on the golf course, fishing trips with friends, and was a true Stoneman around the card table. Above all else, he cherished his family. He adored his children and grandchildren, who brought him his greatest joy. He never missed a single event in their lives or an opportunity to spend time with them.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Claude Sandifer Wood Jr.; his mother, Blanche Amos Wood; and his sister, Judith Wood Davis.

Ronnie is survived by his son, Ronald Allen Wood Jr. and wife Keri, of Tupelo; his daughter, Julia Loftin and husband Will, of Brandon; his beloved grandchildren, Kylie Page, Trey Wood, Abby Wood, Allie Loftin, Hannah Loftin, and Quinn Loftin; brother, Claude Sandifer Wood III (Babs); sisters, Barbara Wood Wise (Bob) and Delia Wood; several nephews and nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.

His family will carry forward his memory with the stories that they share and the unconditional love he gave.

Visitation will be from 11 to noon on Monday, Nov. 24, at Hazlehurst Methodist Church, with the service to follow at noon. His burial will take place at the Hazlehurst Cemetery.
