Irene Bell Galey

Irene Bell Galey, 87, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Pine Crest Guest Home.

Visitation was Sunday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Services are 2 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2008, at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Harmony Cemetery.

Mrs. Galey was preceded in death by her husband, William Edmund Galey, Jr., the former postmaster in Greenwood. They were longtime residence of Greenwood before moving to Crystal Springs. While in Greenwood, she managed a retail store in the Federal Building for the blind. Mrs. Galey was a member of the Golden Choir and an active member of the Lion’s Club in Greenwood and Crystal Springs.

Survivors include: twin daughters, Linda Smith and husband, Vic of Crystal Springs and Brenda Heath and husband, Jack of Greenwood; brother, Rudolph Bell, Jr. of Crystal Springs; sister, Evelyn Sorey of Jackson; step-sons, Chuck Galey of Jackson, Terry Galey of Chicago and Billy Galey of Huntsville; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
