Byron Ross Gwaltney

Byron Ross Gwaltney, 89, of Crystal Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. 

Services were Saturday, Dec. 27, from Crystal Springs United Methodist Church with interment in Old Crystal Springs Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gwaltney married Mary Elizabeth Gause Gwaltney on December 26, 1943. He was a U. S. Army Air Force Corps veteran serving from 1941-1945. He worked as office manager for Solomon General Motors Dealership, Solomon, AL until retirement in 1982. He moved to Crystal Springs in 1999. Mr. Gwaltney was a member of Crystal Springs United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary G. Gwaltney in 2003.

Survivors include: son, John Gwaltney and wife Laurie of Crystal Springs; brother, James Earl Gwaltney of Dothan, AL; sister, Hazel Gwaltney Betz of Canton, Ohio; granddaughter, Meg Gwaltney of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
