Patsy Ruth (Puckett) Morris, 74, of Crystal Springs, died Saturday April 18, 2009.
Visitation will be Tuesday 10am-1pm at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday at Stringer Family Chapel followed by a private family burial in Mendenhall, MS.
Patsy was a 1951 graduate of Magee High School and completed her freshman year at Mississippi College before beginning work with Southern Bell Telephone Company in Jackson, MS. She married Harold Morris in 1956 and worked with the NC Bell Telephone Company while Harold was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC in the Army. After Harold’s discharge, she worked as a homemaker and in high school administration in Vicksburg, Clarksdale, Hollandale, and Monticello, MS. She was instrumental in the founding and success of Copiah Academy in Gallman, MS while serving as school secretary, bookkeeper and guidance counselor from 1970 until 1983. She was an active supporter in not only her sons’ sports and activities, but all student activities of the school. Upon leaving Copiah Academy, she worked as secretary for the Mississippi State University MAAFES. Patsy retired in 1995 and enjoyed travel, reading, and visiting with her family. She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs and faithfully sang in the church choir.
Survivors include: husband Harold Glenn Morris; her two sons, Bruce and Mike; her daughter-in-law Kari Morris; ex daughter-in-law Karen Morris; grandchildren Amanda Morris Andrews and husband Sloane Andrews, Stacy Morris, Amanda Oakes, Jonathan Morris, and Rachel Morris; sisters, Louise Mangum and Gladys Purser; sister-in-law Beth Puckett; many loving nieces and nephews.
