Oliver O’Quinn, Sr.

Oliver O’Quinn, Sr., 98, of Hermanville, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Ridgeland Hospice Ministries, Inc., in Ridgeland.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove M. B. Church in Hermanville with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon at the church. Lakeover Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry O’Quinn, Sr. and Annie Stamps O’Quinn; his wife, Catherine Walters O’Quinn, two daughters, and three sons.

Survivors include: sons, Joe O’Quinn (Marie), Tommy O’Quinn (Jena), and Crawford Ray O’Quinn (Ester), all of Queens, NY, and Oliver O’Quinn, Jr. of Jackson; daughters, Mamie Camper of Queens, NY, Sadie Green of Jackson, and Greta Coleman of Baton Rouge, LA; one granddaughter he raised as his own, Cynthia Curry of Jackson; and one grandson he raised as his own, Ernest O’Quinn of Hermanville; sister, Annie Mae Carter of Danville, IL; 30 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.
