Charles R. Jordan

Charles R. Jordan, 77, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the University Medical Center in Jackson. 

Visitation will be on Friday May 7,  from 1pm to 3pm at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Services will follow at 3pm in the funeral home chapel with burial in Hazlehurst Cemetery.   Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Charlie was a native of Hazlehurst, born on June 19, 1932.  He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.  He served in the U. S. Navy Air Corp during the Korean Conflict and retired from the M. S. D. A. after 40 years of service.  He was also on the founding board of the Copiah Educational Foundation.  

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, S. W. and Sadie Jordan;  brothers, Elmo, Maurice, Thomas and Brown;  sisters, Doris Ainsworth and Nelva Montgomery and grandson, Charlie J. Nunnery.

Survivors include:  his wife of 58 years, Faye Jordon; daughter, Lucretia Nunnery and husband Mike of Hazlehurst; sons, Robin Jordan and wife Edic Jordan of Clinton, Jimmy Jordan and wife Rita of Hazlehurst, and Kevin Jordan and wife Tammy of Wesson.  He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. 
 
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church, Hazlehurst or the Copiah Educational Foundation, Gallman, MS.
