James B. (Burnell) Burkett
James B. (Burnell) Burkett, 88, of Harrisville, died Monday, August 20, 2012 at his home.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Tuesday at Stringer Family Funeral Home. Services will be 2pm Wednesday at Stringer Family Chapel with interment in Harmony Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mr. Burkett attended Palestine Baptist Church. He was a member of the Exxon Mobil Club. He retired from Exxon after 33 years of service. Mr. Burkett was a veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by son, James Donald (Judge) Burkett.
Survivors include: wife, Christine Matthews Burkett; daughters, Rita Greer and husband Anthony of Crystal Springs, and Betty Ann Reed and husband Randy of Braxton; brother, D. B. Burkett of Newhebron; grandchildren, Kendall Logston and husband Shannon, Wendy Filer and husband Chad, Hayley White and husband Keith, Jack Greer and wife Rebecca, and Brandon Greer; and six great grandchildren.
