Herbert E. “Buddy” Carlisle
Herbert E. “Buddy” Carlisle, 88, of Wesson, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at his home.
Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 13, from Bethel Baptist Church with interment at the church cemetery.
Mr. Carlisle was born in Hazlehurst Sept. 9, 1926 to James Campbell Carlisle and Georgie Dixie Magee Carlisle. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served during World War II. He also worked as a farmer, in construction, oil field pipe liner, feed mill operator and was the Public Works Superintendent of Georgetown. Mr. Carlisle served as a Security Guard for Hardy Wilson Hospital, was deputized by the Copiah County Sheriff and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death was his parents; four brothers, three sisters and one grandson, James Christopher Carlisle.
Survivors include: his wife of 71 years, Zelda Monelle Hall Carlisle; sons, James E. “Jim” Carlisle (Joan) and William Timothy “Tim” Carlisle (Fran); daughters, Charlotte McElveen (Paul) and Janice Shows (Robert); sister, Nell Chaney and grandchildren, Shane McElveen, (Guy David Keller), Keith McElveen (Katherine), Virginia Shows Britt (Steve), Suzanne Shows Duckworth (Matt), Alisha Carlisle Murphy (Louis), Andy Carlisle and Hope Carlisle; and five great-grandchildren.
