Horace G. Pepper, Jr.

Horace G. Pepper, Jr., 76, of Crystal Springs, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016 at St. Dominic’s Hospital. 

Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Friday at Hopewell Baptist Church.  Services will be 2pm Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial at Hopewell Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs is handling arrangements.

Mr. Pepper was born June 3rd 1939 in Hodge, LA. Mr. Pepper was a 37 year resident of Hopewell, MS since1979.
Mr. Pepper served in the United States Army for 2 years from 1962-1964. He worked for Chevron Oil Co. for 25 years as a Platform Operator. Mr. Pepper, known to most as simply PaPaw, was recognized as a Deacon of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was active in their Brotherhood organization and treasurer of the Cemetery Fund. He was involved with the local Voluntary Firefighters for over 30 years.
He is survived by 2 sisters- Rosemary Stockett and Sarah Ann Jones, 3 daughters: Eva Pepper, Sherri Marino and Melissa Averett, 3 step-daughters- Lawanna Sandifer, Lisa Parson and Edna Phillips. He leaves 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

This man of God was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
