Johnny Carl Salers, 75, passed away on May 15, 2025, at his home in Crystal Springs, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
He graduated from Provine High School in Jackson. He married Rebecca Lynn Bias on Feb. 6, 1971. He was drafted into the Army the same year. He went to work at the post office after that and retired after 35 years.
He loved nothing more than being with his family traveling, camping and fishing, and going to the beach. He loved the Lord and told everyone he could about Him.
He is survived by his loving (and sassy) wife of 54 years; four amazing children, Laurie Sullivan, Wendy Gould (Todd), Tye Salers (Golden Child) (Allison), and Sarah Hunt (Chris); 11 grandkids, Preston Powell, Luke Powell (Cierra), Joseph Odom (Holly), Rachel Allen (Toni), Trent, Seth and Cash Hunt, and Joseph, Kalob, and Mason Kackley ; six great-grands, Cruz Powell, August Allen, Presleigh Powell, Asher Allen, Aubrey Allen, and Joseph Kackley Jr.; and his brothers that he loved so much, Ronnie Smith (Phyllis) and Jamie Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Denson Salers; his father-in-law, Richard Smith; his mother, Joyce Smith; and his sister, Debbie Dahlam.
A celebration of life will be held at Springs of Praise Church, 26120 Highway 27, Crystal Springs, on Saturday, May 24, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. and service at 10. He will be taken to Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelahatchie immediately following the service.
