Susan Elaine Foster Handal

Susan Elaine Foster Handal went home to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 30, 2026, at the age of 56. Susan was born on March 4, 1970, in Hazlehurst to the late John “Jack” Foster and Marilyn Pittman Foster.

Susan married the love of her life, Abraham Moises Handal, on Nov. 27, 2004. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three children. Susan lived on her family homeplace, a place that held deep meaning and love for more than 200 years.

Susan was a woman of faith, love, strength, and remarkable care for everything and everyone around her. She loved Jesus and was a faithful part of Gallman Baptist Church. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived–through her kindness, her devotion to her family, and the way she gave so much of herself to others.

Those who knew Susan knew that she was a perfectionist in the very best way. Whether she was working on flowerbeds, decorating for Christmas, helping with house projects, repairing something for a customer, decorating someone else’s home, or making sure things were done just right, Susan poured her whole heart into everything she touched. She had a special gift for making things beautiful and making people feel loved.

Susan loved working alongside Abraham at the saddle store and looked forward to their Friday lunch dates together. She also loved helping with the cows, especially Susan the cow and Black Jack the bull. Her days were filled with the people, places, and simple joys she treasured most.

Above all, Susan loved her family. She adored her husband, her children, her momma and daddy, and every member of her family. She was deeply loved in return, and her presence will be missed more than words can say.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Abraham Moises Handal; her children, Abraham Handal Jr. and Brennen  Zane Handal; her mother, Marilyn Pittman Foster; her mother-in-law, Maria Romero; her father-in-law, Orlando Handal; her sisters, Wendy George (Doug), Elizabeth Lawrence, (Chris) and Becky Lloyd (Wayne); her brother, Johnny Foster (Michele Durr); god-sister, Chris Granger (Derrel); her sister-in-law, Melania Meza (Alberto); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Rhett George (Madalyn), Alexis Grantham (Wesley), Cole Griffith, Rylan Griffith (Maygan), Gabriel Foster, Elijah Foster, and Fallon Lawrence; and god-nephews, Harrison Granger (Madison) and Holdon Granger.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, John “Jack” Foster; her son, Zane Moises Handal; her grandparents, Earl Herman Foster, Mary Virginia Pitts Foster, Elsie Mae Moseley Pittman, Edward Farrior Pittman, Richard and Pauline Paulus, Raymond Earl Jacobson, Debbie Jacobson, Hailey Jacobson, Earl Veeder, and Colbi Capuano.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and ICU nurses at St. Dominic for the care and compassion shown to Susan and her family during this difficult time.

Susan’s life was a beautiful example of faith, devotion, hard work, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, beauty, generosity, and family devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A service was held on May 6 at Gallman Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Sebrell Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
