Cherite Farmer Fleming

Cherite Farmer Fleming, 78, of Crystal Springs, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at St. Dominic Hospital. 

Services were held Friday, Jan. 4, from Stringer Family Chapel with interment in Hopewell Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs was in charge of arrangements.

Cherite was born April 29, 1929. As the daughter of a Southern Baptist minister, she and her brother, Bill Hardy, and sister, Quay Hardy Miller, grew up in numerous small communities throughout Mississippi.

In 1947 Cherite married James Emmett Farmer. They had two daughters, Susan and Julia. Emmett died in 1976.

Cherite married James Milton “Mickey” Fleming in 1978. They served together for many years in various ministries of First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. In addition, they participated in mission projects in several different states.

In recent years, Cherite and Mickey ministered to the homebound members of First Baptist Church. They continued that ministry right up until two weeks ago.

Survivors include: her husband, Mickey Fleming; daughters, Susan Sullivan and husband Bobby of Crystal Springs and Julia Sills of Florence; step-daughter, Marsha Holland and husband Robert of Frisco, TX; step-son, Brent Fleming of Jackson; brother, Rev. William E. Hardy, Jr. of Jackson; sister, Quay Miller of Jackson; grandchildren, Robbie Sullivan, Angie Teasley, Joy Sills, Drew Sills, Jared Fleming, Whitney Davis, David Holland.
