Martha Sims New Graves

Martha Sims New Graves, 77, of Huntsville, TX, died Friday, June 3, 2011. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, from Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.  A graveside service will be at 2:30 Wednesday at Hazlehurst Cemetery.  Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mrs. Graves was a life long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Colonial Dames.  She was an avid gardener and artist, as well as a loving
mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Graves was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Wilson Graves; mother, Pauline Sims Hammett; father, Edward New; and step-father, Max Erwin Hammett.

Survivors include daughters, Meg Graves Weaver and husband, Wade Harrison, of Huntsville; Polly Graves Lucas and husband, Matthew Christopher, of Dallas, Texas; and Carolyn Graves Kocurek and husband, Christopher Noel, of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Beck Lucas and Lela Margaret Lucas, both of Dallas, Texas; and Cameron Hardy Kocurek and Kathleen Sims Finan, both of Austin, Texas; best friend of 70 years, Patricia Millirons, of Huntsville.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis,  Tennessee.
