Bennie “Bo” Bland
Bennie “Bo” Bland, 82, of Mize, died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at his home.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Saturday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Services will be 3pm Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Stringer Family Chapel with burial at New Providence Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mr. Bland, a native of Copiah County, was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Mize, MS. He was an Army veteran and was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. Mr. Bland was a retired barge engineer for Dixilyn Field Offshore Drilling Company.
Mr. Bland was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He was a quiet man, but when he did speak, it would usually make you laugh. He loved fishing, hunting, staying around the house, watching Fred and Esther and working in his garden. But his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He was the best husband, Daddy, Pop, and Bo and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Everett Bland and Ira Bland, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Craft Bland; sons, Lindsay Bland of Hazlehurst and Trent Bland (Kris) of Canton; step-sons, Jackie Craft (Brenda) of Mendenhall and Chris Craft (Angie) of Mize; daughters, Leslie Wilson of Hazlehurst and Leisha Beckham (Ricky) of Brookhaven; step-daughters, Teresa Johnson (Charles) of Mize and Lori McAlpin (Art) of Magee; brothers, Leon Bland of Killen, TX, Henry Lee Bland of Hazlehurst, Frank Bland of Union Church and Rubin Bland of Hazlehurst; sisters, Virgie Davis of Hazlehurst and Betty Higgs of Union Church; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
