Robert Lee Edwards Sr.

Robert Lee “Tootnanny” Edwards Sr. transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home at the River Region Merit Health Hospital in Vicksburg on May 11, 2021.
Tootnanny was born Aug. 10, 1942, to Clara and Louis Edwards. He accepted Christ at an early age, attending Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church and later moved his membership to the St. Elmo Christian Church under the leadership of Rev. Percy Terrell. He was employed at Southern Lumber Company as a forklift driver for 40 plus years. Tootnanny loved those Alcorn Braves and most of all his grandkids and great-grands. He would tell you in a minute, “I am working for those grandkids.” He loved his family and all those he encountered, with a big smile. Tootnanny loved everyone and anyone he came in contact with regardless of age or race.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Faye Edwards; two brothers, Johnny B. Sayles, Louis Sayles; and three sisters, Shirley Johnson, Bernice Bailey, and Annie Mae Mcinnis.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 50 years, Gloria Faye Edwards; three daughters, Glenda Washington (Terrance), Alice Odom (Gregory), Latashie Curtis (Woodrow); one son, Robert Edwards Jr. (Katina); three sisters, Dorothy Jean Barnes (Percy), Elsie Ruth Sayles, both of Hermanville; Hazel Dixon, of Hazlehurst; two brothers, W. L Edwards (Ann), of Milwaukee, Wisc.; Brazil Sayles (Bessie), of Hermanville; eight brothers-in-law, Willie Clyde Maddox, Larry Maddox, Odell Maddox, Michael Maddox, all of Houston, Texas; Donald Maddox, of Dallas, Texas; Ronnie Maddox, of Hermanville; Jerry Maddox, of Port Gibson; Leon Little, of Port Gibson; five sisters-in-law, Suzette Becvar, of Houston, Texas; Joyce Maddox, of Dallas, Texas; Lesate McGee, Cassandra Little, both of Port Gibson; Lenora Williams, of Hermanville; a godson, William (Yackie) Goods; goddaughter, Patricia Myles; a niece/daughter, Angela (Sweet) Banks and a special friend, Robert (Killer) Johnson; 10 grandchildren, Brenissa Marbra (Brian), Jeremy, Kayla, L.J., Lervoriuze, Frank, Keith Jr., Keanna, Franshunna, and Breanna; nine great-grandchildren, Kejaylen, Kejarvis, Jordan, Keyra, Brian Jr., Brayden, Kennedi, lsiah, Jurayiah, London, whom he loved dearly; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, family, and friends.
