Brenda Gail Boykin

Brenda Gail Boykin, 68, passed away on July 17, 2026, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, as the result of injuries sustained while heroically saving her husband from a fire at their residence.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Brenda’s life during visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. A memorial service will follow at 3 in the Stringer Family Chapel.

Brenda graduated from Central Hill High School in 1976 and lived a life devoted to serving others. She began her healthcare career as a nurse at St. Dominic Hospital in 1978, where she served until 1996 before continuing her career at Methodist Hospital. She later worked as a paramedic and EMT before she and her husband owned and operated D&B Drywall. Brenda also worked in the cafeteria and drove a school bus for Crystal Springs Elementary School. Following her retirement, she faithfully cared for her husband.

Brenda was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and faithfully attended the Hazlehurst Kingdom Hall. She was an avid quilt maker. She treasured the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. She also loved cooking meals for family gatherings, spending quiet moments reading, and had a special affection for poodles. Brenda especially loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Gigi”.

Brenda and her husband, David, were childhood sweethearts and shared 42 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, love, hard work, and family.

She is survived by her husband, David Franklin Boykin Sr.; two sons, Christopher Shane Boykin (Nikki) and David Franklin Boykin Jr. (Shelby); two daughters, Lindi Lee Fallin (Robbie) and Elizabeth Ann Lewis; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Martin (Missy); sister, Glenda McMullan; uncle, Curtis Lee (Elen); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Stevens; her sister, Sandra Hydrick; and her grandmother, Minnie Lee.
