Indian football – we can all be proud

Hazlehurst ran the Region 7-3A football table in the regular season and has battled through the south 3A playoffs to reach the 3A championship game once again.  At 14-1, the team is on a roll.

The Indians have become regulars at the Vet, where the championship games are played each year, now reaching it for the third straight year.  After losing to Charleston in ’11, Hazlehurst beat the Tigers in a rematch last year, winning 21-20 on the most improbable play in football up to that time (remember The Strip?).

We’d like to congratulate coach Randal Montgomery and his staff, all of the players, the school’s administration, band members, cheerleading and dance squads and mommas and daddys and other family members that go to each and every game.  Hazlehurst football is now known statewide as one that expects excellence and whose players give their best effort on every down of every game.

We’d also like to give kudos to every member of the community who supports the team and makes the trips and helps foster a spirited environment when the Indians take the field each Friday night.

The team has earned the support of the community, so let’s show them that by being there on Saturday to cheer on the Indians.
