Important school board runoff Tuesday

Voters in some areas of Copiah County will need to make plans to return to the polls on Tuesday, November 24 (See Runoff Election Sample ballot, front page).  The runoff election for a five-year term on the Hazlehurst City School District Board of Trustees is the lone item on the ballot.  Incumbent Troy Stewart, Sr. faces off against challenger Kevin Brown.

The dictionary (American Psychological Association (APA): trustee. (n.d.). Dictionary.com Unabridged. Retrieved November 17, 2015, from Dictionary.com website:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/trustee) defines the word ‘trustee’ as “a person, usually one of a body of persons, appointed to administer the affairs of a company, institution, etc.”  The root word, of course, is “trust.”  Trust, used as a verb, means “to commit or consign with trust or confidence.”

To whom do you commit with trust or confidence this 5-year position of trustee for the Hazlehurst City School District?  Do you believe that the city school district deserves a trustee–experienced, successful, unselfish–that has the community in his heart?  I certainly do.

Those who are voting, choose wisely.  Alexis de Tocqueville said, “In a democracy, the people get the government they deserve.”
