Support Arts Month in Town
You’ve been reading about the Arts Month going on in around Hazlehurst since the first of April. Several of our talented area artists and artisans are displaying in strategically located places–many of which are within walking distance of the Hazlehurst Depot. (This week’s front page)
We commend Dr. Jim Brewer, Director of the Mississippi Music Museum in the Depot, and the artists and other talented local individuals who have spent a good many hours working to put on the Arts Month displays. We appreciate, too, the many businesses and organizations around town who have volunteered space in their storefronts for the display of artwork. This is especially commendable this time of year.
Hazlehurst needs this kind of event to showcase not only to our own residents, but also to the hundreds of visitors who stop in town each week. Hosting an event like an art month sends a message of pride and passion in our local talent and our town, and opens a welcoming door to invite others into our area.
The weather looks to be great for the next few days–perfect for walking and riding around to the exhibits. Support them with your presence.
